A night at Maana Homes, A day at Benrido Collotype Atelier.

Step into the world of Benrido Collotype Atelier - one of the last remaining collotype studios in the world—and arguably the only one still operating at such a high level of mastery, scale, and international recognition.
We are honored to offer Maana guests this quiet privilege—private access to the Atelier, an opportunity few get to experience. For over a century, Benrido has quietly preserved the 19th-century art of collotype printing, a meticulous process known for its unmatched depth, tone, and archival quality. Their prints are collected by the world’s top photographers and museums.
This limited offering includes a one-night stay at Maana Homes and a four-hour collotype workshop led by Master Printer Osamu Yamamoto, shared in an intimate small-group setting. Inside Benrido’s storied workshop, you’ll witness the intricate process behind this historic craft and create your own print by using the Collotype Tissues Kit—an heirloom-quality piece capturing Kyoto’s timeless artistry.

BENRIDO COLLOTYPE ATELIER

The workshop is led by Master Printer Osamu Yamamoto, a Kyoto native with over 40 years of experience as one of the leading collotype craftsmen at the Benrido Collotype Atelier. He has reproduced national treasures—from the Shosoin scrolls to Ito Jakuchu’s bird-and-flower paintings—and collaborated with artists like Yasumasa Morimura, Daido Moriyama, and HARIBAN AWARD winners. His teaching at the Collotype Academy reflects a quiet devotion to preserving this analog craft—sharing its rhythm, depth, and joy with a new generation.
